What happened

Greater Manchester Combined Authority awarded this contract to Zest Eco Ltd worth £450,000 on 25 Nov 2024. The contract runs until 5 Dec 2027.

Description

The GMCA estate is predominantly comprised of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service’s (GMFRS) 41 stations and further 3 office, training and workshop sites. There is an imminent need to provide an upgraded and extended Electric Vehicle charging network across the GMFRS estate to ensure the infrastructure is in place for the delivery of new Electric Vehicles into the GMFRS fleet. Currently GMFRS have 14 x 7 kW fast chargers, these are dual headed units across 7 sites (LTSC, FSHQ, Manchester Central, Bolton Central, Whitehill, Eccles and Chadderton). Hybrid EVs are already in use across the fleet with orders for fully electric vehicles placed and due to be in service by summer 2024. To support this, electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the GMFRS estate needs to be extended and existing points upgraded.

In addition to this a new electric vehicle leasing salary sacrifice scheme has been rolled out to all GMCA and GMFRS employees in the last two years. This has already seen wide take up and is likely to remain popular with staff. Whilst our intention is for the EV charging infrastructure prime purpose to be for the charging of our service vehicles, we would like the option to offer EV charging to staff (and possibly visitors and contractors). We wish to procure charging infrastructure that can be used for both fleet and privately owned staff (or other) vehicles with automated invoicing solutions.
