Provision of Additional Bow Thruster MV Varagen

The current MV Varagen bow thruster is powered solely by the starboard main engine. Consequently, the loss of this engine during maneuvering leaves the vessel with only the port main engine and no thruster capability. The proposal is to power a second bow thruster from the port main engine to increase redundancy and improve maneuverability in adverse weather conditions.

The contract will require the supplier to design and submit proposals to Lloyds Register (LR) for approval with assistance from owner. Supply the required approved equipment and install following LR procedures. The additional bow thruster will then be commissioned.

Orkney Islands Council reserves the right to cancel the procurement at any stage and not award a Contract. The expenditure, work or effort undertaken by bidders prior to the award of any Contract is accordingly a matter solely for the commercial judgement of bidders.

Late tenders will not be considered by the Council and all questions are to be submitted via the Questions and Answers section of this contract advertisement on PCS.

An economic operator that suffers, or risks suffering, loss or damage attributable to a breach of duty under the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015 may bring proceedings in the Sheriff Court or Court of Session.
