Change or cancel an API plan

Updated 2 Oct 2026

Switch between API Starter and API Pro on the developers page, and cancel through Manage subscription; your website plan is never affected.

API plans are separate from your TenderSignal website plan. Changing or cancelling one never changes the other, so you can keep using the website on Free, Pro or Business whatever you do with your API plan. This guide covers moving between API Starter and API Pro, cancelling, and what happens to your keys.

Move between API Starter and API Pro

  1. Sign in and open the developers page at tendersignal.co.uk/developers.
  2. In the plans, select Switch to API Pro or Switch to API Starter.
  3. Select Confirm.

The change applies straight away and your next charge is adjusted pro rata. Moving up is charged for the rest of the month on your next invoice, and moving down gives you credit for the unused part of the more expensive plan. Your keys keep working throughout, and your allowance for the month becomes the new plan's allowance. See the plans on the developers page for what each includes.

Cancel your API plan

  1. Sign in and open Your keys on the developers page, or Plan & billing from the account menu.
  2. Next to your API plan, select Manage subscription. This opens our secure billing page.
  3. Find your API subscription and cancel it.

Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, so you can carry on using the API until then. After that, your keys stay in place but run on the free demo allowance, and if you have already used it, requests are refused until you choose a plan again. Your licence to use the data ends with your plan, and the API Terms ask you to delete what you received within 30 days, with a few exceptions. Our guide to using API data in your business explains them. Fees are not refunded, including for part months or unused allowance, unless the law requires it or we withdraw the API.

Buyer contact details

Whether buyer contact details are included depends on the country on your billing details: the UK, the European Economic Area or a country the UK government recognises as having adequate data protection. Moving between API Starter and API Pro does not change this, and demo accounts get no contact details.

Invoices and VAT

API plans are billed monthly in pounds, in advance, and every price excludes VAT. VAT is added where it applies, unless you are a business outside the UK that gives a valid VAT number at checkout. You can download your invoices from the same billing page as any website plan invoices.

If a payment fails

If a card payment fails, we try again over the following days and your access continues while we do. Update your card through Manage subscription to settle the invoice. If it is still unpaid when the retries end, your plan may be ended and your keys return to the demo allowance.

Larger allowances

If you need more than API Pro includes, email [email protected]. We can set up a custom monthly allowance for your account.

Common questions

Does cancelling my API plan cancel my Pro or Business plan?

No. API plans and website plans are separate subscriptions. Cancelling one never changes the other.

What happens to my keys when I cancel?

They keep working until the end of the period you have paid for. After that they run on the free demo allowance.
