Radiopharmacy Managed Services

[Pharmacy Services] GSTT are looking to enter into a Managed Service Agreement for 12+5 years with an industry partner to deliver a new, purpose-built Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-compliant Radiopharmaceutical Manufacturing Unit close to, or on, the Guy's campus. The current unit at GSTT does not have the capacity to manage demand and there is insufficient space to increase the unit size.

A new unit would significantly increase the aseptic manufacturing capacity of both diagnostic (SPECT and PET) and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals for routine patient diagnosis/treatment and clinical trial use at GSTT, but also for neighbouring trusts and other healthcare and commercial providers. The new unit is expected to form a hub-and-spoke model with the existing unit at Guy's Hospital; serving as the main hub, while the current unit at Guy’s will maintain the supply of products of short half-life and for inpatients. This will provide service resilience should the hub experience a manufacturing failure or transport logistics fail. Radiopharmacy demand is growing, regionally and nationally with supply not able to keep pace with demand.
