Description

The Welsh Blood Service (WBS), part of Velindre University NHS Trust, delivers blood collection and distribution services across Wales. The WBS Transport Department supports this by operating a fleet of vehicles used for:

  • Transporting blood and blood products to hospitals
  • Moving staff and equipment to blood donation clinics

Many staff are recruited with Category B licence entitlement only and require additional training to drive vehicles requiring C1 and/or D1 licences. Due to a lack of in-house training capability, WBS needs to procure an external provider to deliver this training. The service operates from four sites across Wales:

  • Talbot Green (Headquarters)
  • Llanelli (West)
  • Bangor (Northwest)
  • Wrexham (Northeast)

This contract will support operational resilience and ensure staff are appropriately licensed to meet service demands. NOTE: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process.
