CFL requires a partner with proven experience in:

  • Working with client in-house design resource to develop and plan impactful ideas and concepts.
  • Working with client in-house marketing team to develop appropriate multichannel campaigns and content.
  • Working with key third parties, including media buyer, film production company, marcomms agency, in-house Insight and Digital teams, brand partners, social media influencers, and content creators.

The partner will be required to work on a variety of projects throughout the year for assets used across the website, social media, paid media and more, however exact projects are yet to be determined, and, in most cases, direction is already determined.

​​CFL requires a partner with proven experience in:

​​Working with client in-house design resource to develop and plan impactful ideas and concepts.

​​Working with client in-house marketing team to develop appropriate multichannel campaigns and content.

​​Working with key third parties, including media buyer, film production company, marcomms agency, in-house Insight and Digital teams, brand partners, social media influencers, and content creators.

​​The partner will be required to work on a variety of projects throughout the year for assets used across the website, social media, paid media and more, however exact projects are yet to be determined, and, in most cases, direction is already determined.

​​Existing Assets:

​​Some of the assets that the team already has include:

​​Brand Guidelines including marque, bespoke font, colour palette, pictograms

​​Tone of Voice Policy

​​Unifying Brand Proposition Line (external from early 2027)

​​Brand Positioning Line ‘Improving every journey’ (internal/external from May 2025)

​​Campaign concept and direction

​​Built Environment Guidelines – Advice on how the brand is manifested in ports and vessels.

​​Photo library – we have an existing photo library which is sufficient to most of our needs.

​​Film library/partner - we have an existing video production partner who we’ve worked with for many years and who hold a healthy library of stock footage.

Examples of Possible Jobs:

The following provides examples and gives a flavour of the kinds of jobs that may be included over the initial term of the contract:

-Digital Migration Campaign – assets and direction needed for a brand sympathetic, but disruptive campaign that moves consumers to digital first.

-Respect Campaign – a suite of assets that show high-level commitment from the company to a policy of zero tolerance towards abuse aimed at our front-line colleagues.

-Deck Protocols – a pilot campaign that changes how people behave on the car decks of ships, particularly with regards to engine idling, handbrake application and car alarm deactivation.

-Customer Feedback Promotion – a series of eye-catching assets that encourage customers and crews to leave feedback on our internal feedback system.

-Ad hoc – other one-off activity like Island Guides, social media direction, competitions, partnerships, cross-departmental support come up a sporadic basis

-Event design support – assets and direction for various events, both internal and external.

There is a mandatory requirement to attend half-day monthly meetings in Gourock and to host onsite working at your studio a minimum of 2.5 days per month for our in-house design team.. The full Invitation to Tender document will be issued to bidders that has successfully passed Stage 1 of this procurement process.

How to engage

It is a mandatory requirement bidders must have previous experience and can demonstrate: - your organisation’s experience in delivering onsite client working interaction. - similar clients who operate in a transport and tourism environment similar to CalMac Ferries Limited. - where you enhanced capability, effectiveness, profile or influence of an in-house design team. To demonstrate your previous experience you are required to fully complete SPD (Scotland) and Technical Envelope listed in PCS-T, project 32848.
