Description
Machine Translation Requirements Overview
The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) is seeking to improve investigative outcomes and intelligence dividends through the deployment of machine translation & transcription tooling. The tooling will enable the rapid translation of non-English language material (text & audio) from a wide variety of sources to support decision making and the intelligence development cycle within a timeframe of relevance. Adopting automation will also release capacity among qualified linguists within the translation pathway to focus resourcing on the timely production of evidential material to build more robust prosecutions whilst providing greater transparency into unused material. The tooling will deliver the capability across all business groups across the Service at the point of need.
The MPS is seeking to better understand solutions capable of delivering a secure, scalable and operationally effective machine translation capability capable of supporting both investigative and intelligence-led policing activities.
Please note the requirement is not for human translators or human translation services.
The solution must:
- Provide a flexible suite of languages, high out-put (rate and file upload size), and accuracy validation & support multiple common file formats.
- Include transcription capability for audio / video product within the translation cycle.
- Have the requisite security architecture, accreditation and governance in place to process material up to Government Security Classification (GSC) OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE.
