Groundworks (The Roots Service)

Delivery of a Tier 2 service that will work in localities in the borough collaborating with the community, local services (schools, youth/community groups, GP surgeries, VCS organisations) to support young people to access the right mental health support for their needs, as well as provide support directly to young people.

The service is targeted at children and young people (and their families) with mild to moderate needs, key features of the services will include:

• Individual and group support, guidance and talking therapy to help deal with issues such as anxiety, depression, stress and trauma
• Work with professionals in the community to link up with wider community mental health programmes run out of schools, VCS organisations, or GP Surgeries
• Ensure that children and young people with complex mental health needs that require interventions from specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), are easily directed there.
• Early intervention mental health offer to better reach Black males aged 5–17 in Waltham Forest, who face barriers to accessing timely, culturally appropriate care.
• Providing and enhancing support for schools that do not currently have MHST coverage
