Your TenderSignal profile determines which tenders you see. The more accurately you configure it, the more relevant your daily matches will be. This guide walks you through each setting.
Step 1: Choose Your Sectors
Sectors are based on CPV (Common Procurement Vocabulary) categories — the classification system used across UK and EU procurement. Select the sectors that match your business.
Tips:
Select all sectors where you could realistically deliver work, not just your primary service.
If you are unsure which sectors apply, think about what your customers buy from you and work backwards.
You can change your sectors at any time from your profile page.
Step 2: Set Your Regions
Choose which parts of the UK you can deliver work in. Options include:
UK-wide — you can work anywhere in the UK
Specific regions — England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, or specific English regions
Ireland — Republic of Ireland opportunities from eTenders
EU — EU-wide opportunities from TED (Tenders Electronic Daily)
Tips:
If you deliver services remotely (e.g. IT, consultancy, marketing), select UK-wide rather than just your local region.
Many tenders do not specify a region — selecting UK-wide ensures you do not miss these.
Step 3: Set Contract Value Range
Set minimum and maximum contract values to filter out opportunities that are too small or too large for your business.
Tips:
Start with a wide range and narrow it once you see the volume of matches.
Leave the maximum empty if you do not want an upper limit.
Remember that many tenders do not publish a value estimate — these will still appear in your feed regardless of your value filters.
Step 4: Choose Buyer Types
Filter by the type of public body you want to work with:
Central government departments
Local authorities and councils
NHS and healthcare bodies
Education institutions
Police, fire, and emergency services
Other public bodies
Tips:
If you are new to public sector work, local authorities are often a good starting point — they procure a wide range of services and tend to be more accessible to SMEs.
Reviewing Your Matches
Once your profile is set, TenderSignal will start matching live tenders from across our sources: Contracts Finder, Find a Tender, Public Contracts Scotland, eTenders Ireland, and TED.

Updating Your Profile
Your profile is not static. As your business grows or your focus changes, update your sectors, regions, and value ranges. We recommend reviewing your profile quarterly to ensure your matches stay relevant.
